Travelling with your child is always an exciting adventure for creating wonderful memories. It can also be a stressful one since you are travelling alone with your child. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. In fact, if you want to have a great time on your vacation, you need to prepare more and plan everything in advance. Start by finding quality suitcases online to make your moments with your child even more enjoyable. To help you out with your all of that, here are some tips on how to travel with your child as a single parent.

Book Early

Book early to get seats that are close to the front of the plane or the bus. If you can find or afford a nonstop flight, it’s perfect, but if you can’t, make sure there is enough time between flights so you don’t rush and get stressed. Also, it’s a good idea to pay more to get seats next to each other, since there might not be 2 free seats one to another.

Choose A Child-friendly Place To Stay

Whether you are looking for hotels, resorts, or apartments, make sure they have everything your child would need, such as a mini-fridge or an additional bed. If you are at a resort, make sure it’s close to the airport and that it has a child pool, waterpark or other children programs. Moreover, when looking for accommodation, look for prices that are per room per night instead of per person per night.

Bring All Parental Documentation With You

As a single parent, you need additional documentation, apart from their passports and visas. Hence, you need to have written permission by the other parent that it allows you to take your child with you. Also, you need to bring copies of the official custodial documents, if you have full custody over your child.

Fully-pack Your Medical Travel Kit

Your child might get sick, get a stomachache, or allergy. So, you have to be prepared for every scenario. This includes medications that are specific to your child as well as for the illnesses you might be exposed to at your destination place.

Have An Emergency Plan

Sometimes your child may get lost or separated from you in a mall or in a store. That’s why you must have an emergency plan. And, you have to rehearse it with your child, so that they remember how to react in a certain situation. To make sure your plan is complete, check if your child knows things like:

  • your and their full name
  • your cellphone number
  • the address and name of the place you are staying at
  • if they can recognize a person they can trust, such as a police officer
  • and other helpful information.

Travelling with your child as a single parent isn’t impossible. But, in this case, you have to plan everything carefully and think of all the things that might happen. So, write down all the things you have to do and prepare for and start working on them.
