Our top 3 communication tips

Today we are going to talk about 3 communication tips. Given that this site is here and focuses on co-parenting communication we wanted to give you our top 3 tips to help you along the way.

Stick to the facts

When you are communicating whether it be if you have something to say or if you are replying to a message always stick to the facts. Don’t go off onto tangents – stick to what you need to say.

Don’t become emotional

I know that is easier said then done but you want to treat this like a business relationship. When you are communicating with your colleague at work,  your boss or an employee from another organisation you won’t become emotional. Whether they are annoying you, upsetting you, pushing your buttons – you will always manage to remain professional.  This is what you want to focus on with your ex partner and your ongoing communication.

Don’t assume

Don’t assume they know why you are asking a question – you may need to explain this. Don’t assume they know you have an event that you want to go to which is why you need changeover to be moved. Don’t assume they know how you feel about a particular person/topic. If you need to clarify always do that. If you need to justify your position do so but stick to the facts and don’t become emotional.
